The new shelf ready packaging solution for the assortment of Hochland cheese sandwich slices is a true all-rounder. The two-part corrugated board automated packaging consists of a tray with an integrated interior shelf. Due to the two layers, up to six different varieties can be presented in one packaging unit. A blanc stabilizes the interior shelf. The packaging unit is supplemented with a hooded lid that provides optimal protection of the products during transport and fixes them in the unit. To preserve the shape of the cheese in its primary packaging during transport, the units recline on the pallet during transport. This poses a particular challenge for the construction’s statics.

Once the unit arrives at the retailer, the lid can be removed easily. The products can be placed on the refrigerator shelf quickly and make optimal use of the available space. Scores and slots on the bottom of the packaging unit lock the primary packaging in place. In combination with the open front of the packaging, this ensures an optimal product presentation.

The shelf unit is printed with high quality ThimmColor®-Flexo pre print inside and outside in the Hochlandcorporate design. This supports the management of the Hochland brand at the point of sale.

The packaging is a complete mono-material solution which will again be recycled into corrugated board paper.

The new packaging concept represents an intelligent combination of retail and customer requirements: The construction offers optimal product protection and guarantees the efficient use of the pallet. The packaging unit opens easily and products can be placed on the shelf quickly. Allowing sale from two levels, the packaging utilizes the available shelf-space better now. At the same time, upright positioning optimizes the presentation of different product varieties and also makes them more easily accessible for the customer. The use of environmentally friendly corrugated board completes the advantages of this packaging solution and allows for simple and quick recycling.
