The packaging concept of THIMM for the hardtops of the FIAT 500 is a real space-saving miracle. The transport packaging designed for the overseas shipment is a twin-type box. Each box is designed to contain two hardtops. The lid of the bottom packaging is constructed to replace the pallet for the upper container. This saves material and space which offers economic and ecological advantages. Therefore the available space within the maritime container can be exhausted the best possible way. Further savings can be achieved by the overlapping arrangement of the hardtops inside the individual packing units.
The material mix consisting of corrugated cardboard, wood and cushioning material ensures an optimal transport protection.
The packaging and the required materials are assembled in one unit and delivered to the customer as a set. At the customer’s premises, the boxes are built up and filled.
The creative department team of THIMM Schertler Verpackungssysteme developed the concept within five days after supply of products and data by the customer. The realization of this contract was the first joint project of ACE Packaging Austria (Graz / Austria) and THIMM Schertler Verpackungssysteme (Nordhausen/ Thuringia). In June 2010, both companies combined their expertise in packaging systems made of multi-materials in a partnership. Since then, these two companies are acting in the market under the brand name THIMM ACE Packaging Systems.
