THIMM SCHERTLER Verpackungssysteme presents tailored packaging solutions for the solar industry for every step in the value added chain. Here, so-called module packaging requires special attention. They are used when the finished solar modules are sent on their way to roofs or solar parks. The modules are extremely delicate and require good protection during transport. From the logistical point of view, easy handling during the packaging process at the plant and simple extraction of the module at the construction site are just as important as stackability for transport and storage as well as great flexibility for just in time delivery. Single material solutions are used just as much as multi-material packaging. Depending on the individual customer’s requirements, modules can be transported in a laid flat position or standing upright. The featured packaging solution is a single material solution made of heavy corrugated board – so called RhinoPlate®. It consists of a pallet, a ring, a top, and fixation units that stabilize a total of 50 modules. The packaging can also be used in automated production and is suitable for overseas transport. Up to five filled units can be stacked on top of one another in the storage facility. Each packaging can carry a load of up to 4.8 tons.
